this week has been a good week for creativity...had a wonderful workshop on tuessday.with  a lovely lady who inspred me to begin a journal...........the workshop was on Tufting ....its rug making on speed !!  a hand held (very heavy) air compressed (very noisy) gun that fires yarn into a hessian backing at a fast rate....very excitng and very quick..im dying to experiment more. Also today i joined the carmarthen sketch club and saw a very good demonstration by a menber and local asrtist that realy inspired me to get out my watercolours again.
Promises for the week keep a journal with out fail...jot down ideas, sketches picture photos etc..do something every single day.!!  and get out the watercolours this weekend and paint paint paint !!!

sunny days

Beautiful blue skies greet me this morning and a gorgeous hard frost making everything look glittery in the sunshine. Inspiration all around me, if only i could decide on just exactly what to draw / make / research, my head is so full of so many ideas and i dont get any of them down in a sketch book....note to myself..sketch booking is a must for this year..DO IT !!!

Today i am lucky to be going to our wonderful Botanic Garden of Wales, meeting a friend from art college there and having lunch and a nice catch up...made even more enjoyable by the fact that its FREE! entrance for the whole of January. Hope to get some nice photos for textile design ideas and to spark off the start of my gardening year....Pen Y Garn's garden needs some hard work this year to get up to scratch.. So many things to do and so little time, where does it go ? I must be getting old...(who said that !  never !!!)

Saturday Junk Shopping

After  whole day trawling the finest Antique shops in West Wales, some 60 miles of driving !  i finally found what i was looking for in our local (just around the corner ) auction surplus shop. My new pine round table fits perfectly in the corner of the kitchen and was a fraction of the price of any that id seen previously. So lesson learnt there. Meanwhile lovely hubby has been putting up the gorgeous little reclaimed cheap tiles we bought last week above the cooker. How much mroe satisfaction i am getting from buying bargains than going to shops with a big cheque, its such fun and i know no one will have a kitchen like it, maybe no one would want a kitchen like it !! But i love it and cant wait to get it finished and use it....pics to follow

new blogg

Welcome to my ramblings ..im new to this so will take me a while to get going, but having read all the lovely blogs i was keen to try one myself and maybe make some new friends and learn something. My life is filled with freinds and family and creativity and these are the important things as far as i can see. I am studying for a degree in textiles and have a lovely home that me and lovely hubby are trying to decorate. I love the simple life and here in West Wales we are very lucky to have lots of beautiful countryside around us to inspire and invigorate us. At home there is me and hubby, Monty the jack russel and Wilf and Mimi the birmans, we live amongst organised chaos that i am continually trying to improve without much success,.but its fun trying. Off today to the junk shops to  see if i can find some nice things for my kitchen that lovely hubby is as we speak rebuilding for me , we are going for the retro make do and mend, shabby chic version of kitchen design !!!  wish me luck
